Why our coffee?

Our coffee:

We never use chemicals: or pesticides on our plantation. Most coffee growers use these chemicals to obtain a more abundant production. There are two types of pesticides that are highly toxic: Dysiston and Temik. Both are systemic poisons, which penetrate the plant's tissues, through its roots, contaminating its leaves and fruits.

The pesticide Temik is considered the fourth most toxic pesticide in the world. For this reason, we do not use any chemicals that could put your health at risk. The coffee we grow, the one we consume ourselves and our family, is the same one we sell.

“Aromático Regio” is a coffee grown in optimal conditions of altitude, humidity and soil temperature. The optimal altitude to harvest a high-quality coffee bean, is between 2,000 and 3,000 feet. Our coffee plantations are at ideal altitudes and under the best humidity conditions, resulting in obtaining a whole coffee bean (it does not burst or crack).

Our coffee is grown in the mountains at 2,300 feet above sea level, on a slope where it receives the ideal humidity since it gets the necessary rainfall and natural drainage. If the coffee bean is harvested in a valley, or any flat terrain, it will consequently have poor drainage, causing water to accumulate in the roots of the plants, negatively affecting their development.

“Aromático Regio” is a first-class coffee, without mixtures, grown at its peak of ripeness: We only use supreme coffee beans, of the Arabica variety, which is recognized as having the best aroma in Puerto Rico, and possibly, throughout the world. Our coffee is not mixed with other beans. We collect our coffee beans at their peak of ripeness. This makes our coffee of superior quality. When a coffee is harvested green or semi-green, it has been harvested prematurely. This makes the coffee classified as second or third-class coffee. Many coffee growers use blends with other beans, to camouflage imperfections in their color and mask their aroma. We do not.

Sun-dried coffee:

On our plantation we use “solar boxes” - they are aluminum boxes with a glass lid - that allow the coffee beans to dry in the most hygienically and naturally. Once placed there, they are sealed. During the day we open the lid to release excess moisture, during the night, we close them again. This method of sun drying makes ours the most aromatic and exquisite coffee, the best of all! The way we make our coffee is in total harmony with nature and the environment. Other coffee growers dry their coffee, artificially, in “huge chambers or bowls” fueled by “diesel” gasoline. The gases emanating from these chambers contaminate the coffee. This is why we guarantee that our coffee is the most delicious and healthy… We use the best natural drying method in the world: our sun.

It is a coffee of origin:

We know the path of our coffee from the plant to your cup. Our family has grown, produced, and processed coffee for more than three generations! “Aromático Regio” coffee is produced and processed in Yauco, the “City of Coffee”, from where it was once exported to the Vatican. Yauco offers the unique conditions to produce our “Aromático Regio Añejo” of origin and the Original version is of a Supreme Quality.

Coffee on demand to order:
